Brown Tabby

Another somewhat misunderstood colour as it is often associated with the idea that it is a moggie colour... These beautiful cats have dark brown to black swirls on a warm brown background. They can appear cooler in colour depending on the breeding but their coat can change dramatically from season to season. Brown Tabby's as with most of the British Shorthaired should have orange eyes but this can vary from deep orange that shows as almost brown to a lighter gold colour. Both colours can be quite startling.

To breed a top quality show kitten takes some doing as the pattern on the tabby (the same is true of the spotted) makes up a large percentage of the marks. If you want a brown tabby for showing then it is advisable to let the breeder know, as what is available may not be up to show standard but would make a very nice pet.
